Moved Into a House With Solar? Here’s What To Do

Did you recently buy a home with solar panels? Congratulations on both! If we were the installer for the system, here’s what you need to know to transfer the system to your name. This is important because it’s how you’ll get the benefits from the solar array on your bill (if it’s a leased system it’s a little different). This is how you will get access to system monitoring, confirm warranty information, and connect with us so we have your information for future reference, and vice versa!

If the system is owned:

  1. Send us an email info@myacesolar.com to give us your name, email, phone number, and the address you are moving into that has solar panels we installed.
  2. Figure out if the system is SolarEdge or Enphase.

Enphase System

If your new home has an Enphase system, be sure to check out Enphase’s website here for a step-by-step. You’ll make a login with Enphase and follow their instructions to transfer the system.

Note: To request the Continuation of Coverage, you will need to complete the transaction within 30 days of completing the change of ownership process.

SolarEdge System

  1. If your new home has a SolarEdge system, you can fill out a form to transfer the system to your name here. If you do not have enough information to complete this you can give us a call and we can help transfer it to your name.

If the system is leased:

The previous homeowner will need to transfer the lease over to you. You will then take on responsibility for the lease payments in exchange for solar energy. You may have the option to buy out the system instead of leasing it. If buying out the lease is something you want to explore, be sure to reach out to the financier that is leasing the system to the current homeowner.

Solar is a great way to save money and reduce your carbon footprint. If we were your installer please reach out to us if your system isn’t producing as it should and we’ll get to the bottom of it. Be sure to check your monitoring through Enphase or SolarEdge regularly. Congratulations on your solar-powered home!
