At long last, customers of many Municipal Light Districts can now take advantage incentives for new solar installations! The DOER, Massachusetts Municipal Electric Cooperative (MMWEC), and Energy New England (ENE) recently announced that participating MLPs will offer a rebate program for the installation of solar PV systems in their coverage areas, and we’re excited to help residents cash-in. Here are a few excerpts from the press release:

“DOER and the participating MLPs will offer rebates of $1.20 per watt, up to 50% of system costs, on installations of 25 kW DC or less.”

“The program will be available to 45 towns serviced by MLPs, which are home to over 875,000 residents. To date, there are 2,417 projects amounting to 187 MW of installed solar in the participating MLPs. This program will result in an approximately 30 percent increase in installed solar capacity of projects sized 25 kilowatts or less in these 45 communities.”

The program officially opens on May 20th and will remain open until funding has been depleted. Each MLP listed below has pledged a specific amount of funding to the rebate program, so there are limited amounts of incentive available. What does this mean to you? The sooner you get started, the better chance you’ll have of receiving a rebate.

There are some qualifying factors to consider if you’re interested in the MLP rebate programs. To be eligible, your home or business must meet the following criteria:

• System size must be 25 kW DC or less,
• Have no more than 20% reduction in output due to shading,
• Have an azimuth between 90 (east) and 270 (west) degrees;
• Be interconnected to a participating MLP’s distribution system; and
• Cannot have received a Statement of Qualification under the Solar Carve-out II Program
